Power Melodic Metal - Made in CZ
Motorband wurde 1986 von Libor "Máca" Matejcik ins Leben gerufen. In kürzester Zeit erspielte sich diese Band einen festen Platz in der Tschechoslowakischen Rockliga und feierte auch einige größere Erfolge. Sie spielten auf allen großen Rock und Metal Festivals. Nach einigen Umbesetzungen kristallisierte sich Anfang des Jahres 2008 die jetzige Besetzung. Es kam auch der einstige Mitbegründer, Drummer Dan "Hafo" Haftstein (unter anderem ex- KREYSON) zurück. Dieser sympathische Musiker spielte in den letzen 10 Jahren in einigen erfolgreichen Bands der CZ Metal Szene spielte. Zu dem alten Haudegen kamen auch junge unverbrauchte Gesichter dazu. Dieses "junge Blut" sorgt für mehr Feuer sowohl auf der Platte, so auch auf der Bühne. Da wäre der charismatische Sänger Radek Popel, der Gitarist Martin Przeczek und der Bassist Sláva Safonkin. Mit dieser neuen Formation wurde das Songmaterial 2008 komplett neu eingespielt.
Für die Produktion ist der Deutsche Produzent Jan Nemec zuständig. Die Aufnahmen wurden unter seiner Regie im Sommer 2008 im Hannoverschen Magic Minds Music Studio getätigt. Das Album trägt den Namen "Heart Of The Machine", und man nahm 13 Songs auf. Dieser Tonträger überrascht durch seinen fetten Sound, da hört man powervolle Gitarren, ein Schlagzeug das sich den Weg nach vorne peitscht, und einen Gesang der den Rockfan begeistern wird. Neben melodischen und trotzdem kraftvollen Powersongs, hört man hier auch Balladen.

Motorband was formed in 1986 by Libor "Máca" Matejcik. They very quickly because a firm fixture in the Czech Rock music scene and celebrated several big hits. Motorband have played at all the big rock and metal festivals. After a change of personnel involving the return of erstwhile founder drummer Dan "Hafo" Haftstein (ex- KREYSON), the current formation crystalized at the begining of 2008. These likeable musicians have played in the last ten years in various successful bands in the Czech metal scene. The fresh young talent added to the old warhorses meant younger blood and provided more fire on the stage: The charismatic singer Radek Popel, the guitarist Martin Przeczek and the bass player Sláva Safonkin. Motorband's new, 2008 formation has also written completely new song material. The German producer Jan Nemec is responsible for the new production sound. Under his direction, the new studio recording was produced in the summer 2008 at the Hannover Magic Minds Studio. The completed album appears under the name "Heart of the machine" and contains thirteen (13) tracks. This new work is significant because of it's rich sound, the powerful guitars and a drum sound that drives the music forwards. This is completed with a vocal performance that will inspire rock fans. Alongside the combined melodic and powerful songs there are also fine ballads.

Wann wurde die Band gegründet?
Die Band wurde 1986 gegründet: Die Band bestand zwar schon unter dem Namen „Generace“, man hatte aber Probleme mit dem kommunistischem Regime, und wurde verboten.
Die größten Erfolge der Band.
1988 spielte die Band bei einem der größten Festivals des Landes. Es fand in der heutigen T-Mobile Arena statt, und es waren ca. 13000 Zuhörer da. Dann war da das Album „Made in Germany“, das man in BRD aufnehmen dürfte. Die Tschechische Version verkaufte sich sehr gut. Wir unterschrieben einen Vertrag bei GAMA Records (Label aus dem Süddeutschen Raum), die die LP veröffentlichen sollten. Doch es kam anders, Probleme in der Band und auch Unstimmigkeiten mit dem Manager führten zu vorzeitigem Ende der Band. Die englische Version ist nie erschienen!
Wie kam es dazu, daß die Band wieder aktiv ist?
Es war wohl eine Bestimmung: Die Band sollte wohl nach 7 Jahre Abstinenz wieder funktionieren. 1994, nachdem sich die Band zum zweiten Mal aufgelöst hatte, spielte ich als Gastgitarrist in diversen Combos mit. 1996 beendete ich alle Live Aktivitäten. 2002 sprach mit ein Sänger an, und dieser brachte dem Funken in mir wieder zum glühen. Motorband ist dabei wieder zum Leben gekommen, unsere Truppe besteht aus erfahrenen Musikern, diese spielten in diversen größeren Bands mit. Z. B. Kreyson, Vitacit, Ales Brichta Band, usw. Ganz wichtig ist auch unser Sänger Radek Popel, der charismatische Sänger, der in die Band neue Impulse miteingebracht hat
Wie kam es dazu, daß die Band nun mit Jan Nemec zusammenarbeitet?
Jan Nemec lernte ich 1992 kennen, und zwar als ich damals bei der Gruppe KREYSON angeheuert wurde. 2006 starteten wir mit den Aufnahmen zu unserem neuem Album. Ich suchte jemanden, der das professionell zu Ende bringen konnte. Hier in der Tschechischen Republik konnten wir keinen finden. Den Jan fand ich ganz zufällig auf den Myspace Seiten wieder, und sprach ihn an. Er willigte ein, aber nur unter der Bedingung, daß man dieses Werk noch mal einspielen muß.
Was sind die Pläne und Wünsche der Band für 2009?
Pläne und wünsche der Band. Proben, live spielen, neue CD aufnehmen, spielen, usw. Mein größter Wunsch ist jedem Rock Fan die Möglichkeit zu geben, unsere Aufnahmen zu präsentieren, und dieser uns ehrlich seine Meinung sagt.

An Interview with Maca, the musical head of the band.
When was Motorband founded?
The band was founded in 1986. The band already existed unde the name "Generace". We had problems with the Communist regime and were banned from performing
The biggest success of the band
In 1988 Motorband played at the biggest festival in the land. It took place at the venue currently named the "T-Mobile Arena" and there were circa 13,000 fans there. Then there was the album "Made in Germany" which we were allowed to record in East Germany (BRD). The Czech version slaes were very good. We signed a contact with GAMA Records (a label based in Southern Germany) who were to relase the LP in Germany. But it didnt happen. Problems with the band and also friction with the managerment lead to the premature end of the band. The English version, therefore never appeared.
How did the reunion of the band come about?
It was intended: The band just had to work after seven years abstinence. In 1994 after the band had split up for a second time, I then played in various bands as a guest guitarrist. In 1996 I stopped all live performances. In 2002 A singer spoke to me and this turned the spark in me into a flame. Motorband came back to life. It is made up of experienced musicians that have played in diverse famous bands, for example: Kreyson, Vitacit, Ales Brichta, and so on. Our charismatic singer, Radel Popel is very important as he gives the band a new impulse.
How did your work with the producer Jan Nemec come about?
I first met Jan in 1992 when I was hired by the band "Kreyson". In 2006 we started the production of our new album. I was looking for someone who could bring the production professionally to an end. I found Jan Nemec totally by accident on Myspace and spoke to him. He agreed to work with us but under the condition that we record the whole album from start again.
What are the new plans for the band in 2009?
Plans and wishes: Practise, play live and a recording a new CD. MY biggest wish is to give every rock fan the possibility to hear our presentation, and to give us an honest opinion of it.
